VISWA EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY Services

We have been running the college for 18 years since 1992. The courses of intermediate we offer include different combinations of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Commerce, Economics and Civics as is the practice in the state. The students might choose different pre-determined combinations such as M.P.C., Bi.P.C, C.E.C & M.E.C. etc. As is evident in the course offerings, we cover almost the entire spectrum of arts and sciences.

The problem was to find the right people to teach these subjects. As this is formed as a trust and we propose to operate on a non-profit basis, finding the teachers was a big hurdle. But finally the founder has used some of his very potential acquaintances in the field and roped in some of the best minds for teaching.

The second problem we had was financing such a big venture. We were planning to provide education to all the needy sections of the society. So for the initial capital, the founder had to liquidate his assets and the remaining capital, we made up with the contributions. As we realized that the resources are limited, we had to choose between the different options as we were unable to accommodate all of our propositions with such a less capital. In India in general the economical status of a section is almost always associated with the social status. Though of late the numbers have been changing, the formula still holds good. So first we decided to look at the weaker sections of the society. And in those sections women are treated as unfit for education and the families treat the female child’s education as a burden on the family.

We wanted to address the issues one by one as far as we can. Now we have free education for the weaker sections of the society categorized by the government as Scheduled castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward castes, hostel for poor girls where we provide FOOD FOR FREE. From others we are not able to run the college without collecting a fee. So we collect nominal fee from others.

Once we started the college and people started coming for education, many of their fellow mates got interested in the higher education and vocational courses. Hundreds of applications used to come and we had to scrutinize the application based on the values and principles of the trust and also the merit of the students. With the development coming in to the district and of late with the talk that Guntur city is going to be the capital of the state, the number of applications has increased significantly. Though we were able to scrutinize the applications and were able to screen the candidates for education, now it is becoming a problem. We are receiving thousands of applications and some of them we are rejecting just because of the unavailability of funds . In this process we are forced to reject very potential applications. Though we feel very elated at the recent developments in the awareness of the people, the paucity of funds, limited resources and unavailability of space are forcing us to deny potential applications, which is very much against our principles. The thing which is worrying us more is that these potential people cannot afford education in most of the other institutions and they might become a part of the mass.

Conclusion

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. (Proverbs 16:3)”

We have the will to serve the poor, to offer them something that they deserve and crave for. But the only thing that is stopping us from doing so is money. All we have at this time is the hope for change and faith and love towards humanity and god. We need hands that help us through these dark times of penury and arms that embrace us with the love for humanity.
With the disposition that you have towards the betterment of the society, the commitment that you have as an institution toward the upliftment of the poor people and the history that you inherit as the messiah of the poor, we sincerely hope that we come under the aegis of your organization.

“With men it is impossible; but to God all things are possible.(Matthew 19:26)”
